My name is Michaela Mabrey. I’m 32 years old, and basketball has been a part of my life since I was five. I played collegiate basketball at the University of Notre Dame, where I graduated in 2016. Following graduation, I began my coaching career and spent the last 10 years coaching at both the mid-major and Power Four levels, most recently at Notre Dame.  A few months ago, I made the decision to transition out of coaching and pursue a new chapter by starting my own business.

So, why the name Basketball Bestie?

I chose Basketball Bestie because it perfectly reflects who I am and the purpose God has placed on my life. Mentorship has always been at the core of who I am, and although I’ve stepped away from coaching, that purpose hasn’t changed.

Basketball Bestie is designed to be a trusted resource for women in the basketball community—a place where players, families, and coaches can find guidance, support, and honest conversations as they navigate their unique journeys. Whether you're making decisions about recruiting, transferring, coaching opportunities, career paths, or simply trying to figure out your next step, I’m here to help.

Think of me as your basketball bestie—the person who will give you honest, straightforward advice, answer the questions you may not know who to ask, and help you see the bigger picture. Through my experiences as both a player and coach over the last decade, I’ve learned that the small decisions you make along the way often have the greatest impact on the opportunities that follow.

My goal here is simple: to help you make informed decisions, avoid common mistakes, and feel confident as possible as you build your future in the game we all love.
